IBEC North West, the IBEC group that represents business in the region, today welcomed the announcement of 200 jobs for UnitedHealth Group's Letterkenny site. The group said that the jobs announcement is a boost for the region and shows that Ireland is still an attractive place for foreign direct investment (FDI).
IBEC North West regional director Padraig O'Grady said: “This is a tremendous boost to the North West economy. UnitedHealth Group already employs 340 people at its Letterkenny site, and these additional 200 posts will further cement the long term commitment of United Health Group to the North West region.
"This commitment shows that Ireland is still a location of choice for FDI, with one of the most highly educated labour forces in the world, a World Bank ranking of third in Europe for ease of doing busines and fourth in the world for skilled labour and openness to new ideas.
"We now need Government to further tackle the country's unemployment problem by bringing forward a renewed capital infrastructure investment plan that will stimulate the domestic economy and create jobs," concluded Mr O'Grady.
